The country of Canada is a federation, composed of ten provinces and three territories. Canada is governed by a federal parliament consisting of an elected House of Commons and an appointed Senate. The region of Labrador constitutes one seat in the House of Commons. Currently the Labrador riding is represented by Peter Penashue

Province of Newfoundland and Labrador
Labrador and the neighbouring Island of Newfoundland comprise the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Formerly designated the "Province of Newfoundland", the name was officially changed in 2001 to include Labrador.

The Province is governed by an elected House of Assembly with representatives from 48 ridings. Four riding are situated in Labrador. Southern Labrador constitutes one riding, known as the "Cartwright - L'Anse au Clair District". The current elected member is Yvonne Jones, originally from Mary's Harbour, Labrador.
